Fondazione Paracelso has instituted an award to the memory of Umberto Randi for the Hemophiliacs Associations that perform local activities, as a contribution to their work and the growth of their organisational structures. The purpose of the Award is to support the Associations in the pursuit of their statutory goals by means of bold measures taken for the benefit of the community of persons suffering from hemophilia and in the work that the Associations carry out with the institutions.
Eleven applications to enter for the award were received, each connected with a project concept. The wealth of ideas sent in by the Associations were first evaluated by our Social Affairs Committee and then the Board of Directors chose the winners on the basis of a number of reasons that were explained in Rome on 24 March, when the awards were presented by Anna and Paola Randi.
The little band of winning Associations are all six members of FedEmo: AEM Macerata, ABCE Martina Franca, ACE Milan, AAE Palermo, AVES Parma and AEV Verona. The projects that we all want to see realised now are on various themes. Our best wishes for their future work to the winners!

Umberto Randi

Avvocato Randi is a personality that is closely associated with many battles in the field of the right to health and the favourable results attained in our country, starting from the recognition of hemophilia as a social disease in the early seventies. His legal expertise, his capacity to express a strategic vision to seize the changes that were taking place and above all his unforgettably powerful humanity supported the groups that were active in the various Regions for more than 30 years and promoted the institution of the Federation of Hemophilia Associations in 1996.
